Your host says:
This is the new frontier in communication. While podcasting has been around a while, using local podcasting to engage the local community is new, exciting, and is a powerful tool to communicate democratic values, while countering misinformation!

Local Podcasting: Rebuilding Community Trust.
<br>
<br>

Local journalism is shrinking while misinformation spreads rapidly. Communities are searching for trusted ways to reconnect, share accurate information, and discuss the issues that affect their daily lives.

<br>
<br>

In this session, we’ll explore how community-focused podcasting can help rebuild trust, encourage civic engagement, and create space for respectful conversations across political differences.

<br>
<br>

Using the Benicia Voice Podcast (beniciavoice.com) as an example, we’ll show how a small group of volunteers created a nonpartisan local podcast that brings together residents, local leaders, and community organizations to discuss local issues, host candidate forums, and keep the community informed.

<br>
<br>

Participants will learn:
<br>
* Why local podcasts reach audiences traditional messaging often misses
<br>
* Simple equipment and software needed to get started
<br>
* How to find guests and create engaging conversations
<br>
* Ways to build a local audience and strengthen civic dialogue
<br>
* Learn how lessons from radio broadcasting during WW2 can be used to help save our democracy today
<br>
* Learn about echo chambers and why this style of communication is the antidote

<br>
<br>

No prior podcasting experience is needed—just an interest in strengthening community conversation.
